Meet Kian: 2025 PhRMA Scholar
We’re thrilled to announce Kian as the 2025 recipient of the PhRMA Scholarship, a meaningful honor that supports high-achieving students from Minds Matter DC as they pursue their college dreams. Kian joined Minds Matter DC in 2022 as a determined high school sophomore. Now, three years later, she’s graduated and is heading to Trinity Washington University to begin the next chapter of her journey.
Each year, this scholarship, made possible by our generous partners at PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America), provides financial support and recognition to a standout graduating senior in our program. But it’s more than just a scholarship. It’s a celebration of hard work, persistence, and the transformative power of community investment.
A Journey of Growth
During her time in Minds Matter DC, Kian engaged in over 150 hours of Saturday programming that included academic enrichment, SAT prep, and dedicated mentorship. She participated in college summer immersion experiences, career panels, and personal development sessions, all designed to ensure students are not only college-bound but college-ready.
At Minds Matter DC, we believe that potential exists in every student, and our role is to provide the structure, resources, and support to bring it to life. For students like Kian, this kind of comprehensive support is critical. It levels the playing field and opens doors that may have once seemed out of reach.
Why the PhRMA Scholarship Matters
The PhRMA Scholarship is awarded to two seniors annually who reflects academic excellence, leadership promise, and a commitment to their future. This $4,000 financial award helps alleviate the burden many families face during the transition to college and affirms that our students’ hard work is seen and celebrated.
